The benefits and harms of pistachios

  • January 13, 2025

We have written a lot about snacks, and today we will touch on such a topic as the benefits and harms of pistachios, because this product is perfectly suitable for beer, and the solo also does not lose a drop of such popular peanuts and caskets!

Pistacia Vera (real pistachio) is a multi-barrel tree (in some regions a bush), the maximum height of which reaches 4-6 m, and life expectancy is 300-400 years. The closest relative of the pistachio, which grows on the slopes of the Her Syria, Central Asia and Iran, is cashew. The peculiarity of this tree is the deep cracks on the bark of gray-brown color and the fruit-sedel of the angular and ovoid shape, which reaches 25 mm in length. By the way, few people know that pistachio is a seed (ask anyone who is fond of botany), but only ordinary inhabitants call it a nut, that is, we, unenlightened consumers, and cooks.

The east is considered to be the birthplace of pistachio wood, however, there it had a more poetic name – “Tree of life”. Like this! It is noteworthy that in those distant times this product was very appreciated, and in Persia they even used instead of currency. I wonder what would happen if this tradition has been preserved until today?

The benefits and harm of pistachios are certainly interesting, because it is not for nothing that scientists from Pennsylvania University strongly recommend that they include exclusively pistachios in the diet, since they, in comparison with other nuts, contain the largest number of useful vitamins and trace elements necessary for our body. So in 100 g of these nuts contains:

– 50 g of fats, in which there are such irreplaceable saturated and unsaturated acids, namely: oleic, palmitic, linoleic, linolenic, stearin, palmitolein;

– 25 g of carbohydrates;

– 20 g of protein, which enriches our body with amino acids;

– 5 g of vitamins (A (Zeaksantin, Luthein), B1, B6, B9, E) and microelements (iron, magnesium, manganese, copper, phosphorus, potassium).

The energy value of pistachios is quite large: in 100 g-600 kcal, so you should not get involved in them (the daily rate of 10-15 nuclei per day), because it is quite difficult to drive out extra pounds! The use of them is not recommended too active to allergy sufferers, since they can provoke a rash, violation of digestive processes, sneezing, and in the worst cases and anaphylactic shock. From too salty pistachios should also refrain from people with high blood pressure, since pistachios combined with a huge amount of salt do not contribute to its normalization. And, of course, to people whose mouth installed an orthodontic apparatus, which adjusts the tooth -muffled anomalies, pistachios are better not to bite. No more contraindications!

The use of pistachios is recommended for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, since they, and this is the main plus, contribute to the splitting of cholesterol plaques, because of which the walls of blood vessels lose their elasticity and wear out faster. Regular and moderate use of pistachios helps to improve blood flow, and, consequently, sexual function, because it is not for nothing that they are attributed to Aphrodisiacs!

As mentioned above, pistachios are rich in lutein, which favorably affects vision, and vitamin E – the main fighter with free radicals, a kind of “young apple”, capable of maintaining youth and freshness of the skin. High fiber content favorably affects the intestines, improves its peristalsis and removes harmful toxins, toxins.

In general, pistachios normalize the liver function, cleanse the ducts, stimulating the conduct of bile, have a positive effect on the operation of the respiratory system (therefore they are recommended for tuberculosis), stabilize and strengthen the nervous system.

There is no special culture of the use of pistachios: some “gourmets” love them for beer, connoisseurs prefer to supplement their taste with strawberries and cream cheese, with champagne (they say that in this combination they are served in a buffet in honor of the presentation of the Nobel Prize), though with such “mixs “And the quantities of the benefits and harm of pistachios become very relative, because, as they say, the main thing is not to overdo it.
