Cherry jam along with Persikov and apricot, is my favorite treat and a “home” delicacy, which I enjoy consuming in huge quantities. I use jam everywhere – I water the cottage cheese, fill out porridge, and just eat in a bite with tea … jam from cherries
Oddly enough, but I appreciate this product exclusively for its taste characteristics, but I don’t think about “utility” and “harmfulness”, however, I think, the time has come to make up for this gap to fill!
Cherry jam is a canned product of cherries pierced in sugar solution. The first cherries began to be planted in the Caucasus and the Black Sea coast of Crimea several centuries ago, however, in the third century BC, the trees were known to Roman doctors who used their fruits for medical purposes. Today, in the world there are more than a hundred and thirty varieties of cherry trees, and the berry itself, compote or jam on its basis are considered irreplaceable sources of useful vitamins, micro -and macroelements necessary for our body.
The first history of cherry jam was the first history of Kyiv Podol, Sofya Romanovna Artemyeva, nicknamed Artemikha. At the beginning of the 18th century, all the guests of the Ukrainian capital were simply obliged, firstly, to visit the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, and secondly, Artemyikha, in order to taste its famous treat. I don’t know how to go in a cherry one, but the jam was also loved in house a. WITH. Pushkin, on the desktop of which there was always a jug of water and a barrel of this sweetness.
Jam as a favorite home “delicacy” is very popular in our latitudes, but in the West jams in which the berries are turned into a homogeneous mass are in great demand in the West. By the way, what is the difference between jam and jam we wrote here.
Cherry jam
Returning directly to our topic, I note that if you buy jam in the store, then note that there is a regulatory document for this product (in Russia)-GOST R 53118-2008 “Jam“ Jam. General technical conditions ”(unfortunately, there is no analog document in Ukraine), according to which the following requirements for the“ appearance ”of raw materials are put forward: the fruits should be homogeneous in size and degree of maturity, retain their shape, will not make up and do not wrinkle. It is allowed to have fruits with a bone, as well as individual bones in an amount not exceeding 5% of the total mass of the product. Crushed bones, sugary, extraneous taste and smell are categorically prohibited!
Cherry jam: there is no winter and spring workpiece!
If we talk about storage periods, then jam is a long -lived product, but excessively long storage reduces its beneficial properties, and therefore it is better to store the treats from the crop to the crop. And yet, before buying, be sure to pay attention to the date of production. Refuse to buy jam of winter or spring production, since the probability that the manufacturer used either frozen berries or fruits treated with nitrates very high.
Cherry is rich in vitamins of groups A, B, C, E, fluorine, iodine, zinc, magnesium, calcium, fluorine, iron, cobalt, copper, which are included in the chemical composition of the berry and are contained in cherry jam. Of course, it is worthwhile to understand that the concentration of beneficial substances in jam decreases by more than 50% as it passes the raw material, but something still remains! So, cherry jam due to the content of vitamin B9 and folic acids helps strengthen immunity and improve the operation of the circulatory system!
Some consumers avoid jam due to the high sugar content, but it should be understood that with heat treatment, sugar along with berry juice goes into fructose involved in the metabolism and indispensable for our body. So you should not expect problems from this side. There is also an opinion that there is a blue poison in cherry bones, and therefore the likelihood of poisoning with cherry jam is great. I hasten to dissuade you: again, during heat treatment, synical acid breaks up and disappears!
Of course, cherry jam is a product, rather, for the soul than for the body, but who said that you should not pamper yourself? So I will add and go to the place now, especially since we just opened a jar of cherry delicacy … 🙂
P. S. Dear readers, we launched a new “chip” on our blog – “Poll of the Week”, which is displayed in the right side menu of the site. Every week we will offer you a new survey, somehow related to foods. We ask you to be active, express your opinion, because only by common efforts we can at least somehow protect ourselves from poor-quality food products! In addition, you can not only indicate your position by voting for a certain option, but also see the results of the survey (the “poll archive” is available at the bottom of the vote), see what our fellow citizens think about one or another problem! We think it will be interesting! Please vote!
